Week of May 20, 2024

We snuck in a little outside playtime between the rain drops this week!!

 A Sneak Peek at Our Upcoming Week:  It is Summer Fun Week!!!  YAY!! I will email reminders... 

🌞PreK Summer Fun in the Sun Week🌞:  May 20th through May 23rd:  Details came home through your child's folder.  This year's themes include Water Day 5/20, Bikes/Wheels Day 5/21, Camping Day 5/22 and PreK Olympics 5/23!!  

🎓🏫PreK-3 Graduation - June 7, 2024:  We are in the process of planning our PreK-3 Graduation, "The Preschool Review" where we will take a trip down our PreK-3 Memory Lane singing a song or reciting a poem for each of the months we were in school!  Children will arrive in our classroom at 9:40 that morning and families will head to the Gym in the Main Building.  Our Performance will begin promptly at 10:00am and will be followed by light refreshments.  Children will be dismissed to their families right after the celebration.  Our Graduation will take approximately 60-90 minutes.  More details to follow.

Letter of the Week:  Letter Review Aa-Zz

Numbers of the Month: 9 and 10

Color of the Month:  Review of all Colors

Shape of the Month:  Review of all Shapes

STEAM Units:  Transportation and  Life Cycle

Themes for the Month:  Counting, Graphing, Name Writing, Scissor Skills, Opposites, Rhyming, Seasons of SPRING and SUMMER, Nursery Rhymes, Fairy Tales, Mother's Day, Father's Day, Flowers and Insects, Life Cycle

Religion:  Sign of the Cross, Simple Prayers, Grace Before Meals, Praying for someone you care about, "We Love Mary" and  "We Sing Our Prayers"

Show & Tell:  No Show and Tell this week due to Graduation Rehearsals!!

May 24th:  Tag Day:  WEAR RED, WHITE and BLUE to Raise Funds for Eighth Grade Project Graduation  

May 24th: Schoolwide NOON DISMISSAL (No aftercare)

May 27th:  NO SCHOOL: Memorial Day

May 29th:  STS Field Day (details coming soon)

June 6th: Last day of PreK 

June 7th:  🎓PreK-3 Graduation🎓 at 10:00am

Did you hear the BIG news?!?!

We were AMAZED when our butterflies came out of their chrysalises!!

And they all have names now after a class vote!!!

Be sure to ask your little scientist all about it!! 

Our Five Day Friends loved hosting a special baby shower for our grandma to be, Mrs. McDonald!!

We learned to swaddle babies!

We had so much fun playing Smell the Diaper too!!

Some smells were slinkier than others!! lol

We even changed diapers!!

It was so much fun teaching Mrs. McDonald how to be a wonderful Grandma!!

Our little munchkins have had lots of experience with some really great ones!!

We did so well on our Transportation Book Covers!!

Our Transportation Books came out GREAT!!!

We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we enjoyed making them!!

We loved wrapping up our Transportation Unit with some sensory fun!!

Transportation Centers were so cool!!

We learned Number 9 this week too!!

And we also painted plates as a special first step in a cool new craft!

Our Officer Feeney returned for Step Two of our Sink and Float Experiment with our Five Day Friends!!

We loved carving our boats with him!

Then putting masts on them too...

And then we had so much fun  FLOATING THEM!!!

We used the boats we made during Step One of this experiment to compare the results!!

WHAT?!?! One SANK and one FLOATED?!?!

It was sooooo cool!!

(FYI... if you try this at home, Ivory Soap with Aloe does not float! lol)

Our Five Day Friends LOVED learning about Ladybugs this week too!!

We cut our circles on our own!!

Then decided if we wanted a "Grouchy Ladybug" or a "Friendly Ladybug"...

Can you guess what book we read?!?

Do you know how many legs ladybugs have?

Hint, hint... all insects have this many!!!

Spotting our Ladybug Shells was so messy but so fun!!

They are now on display in our Classroom Gallery!!

Speaking of Galleries. our Sunflowers are on display in our PreK Combined Display too!!

We did so well practicing on stage for our BIG DAY!!!

We finished off the week with some GARDENING FUN!!!

Our PreK-3 Planter looks AMAZING!!!!

We snuck in some playground fun too!!

Looking forward to kicking off the unofficial start to Summer this week!!
