Thanks again for helping your little ones learn from home!

I hope everyone enjoyed learning from home these past two weeks!

I am so excited to see everyone in person again!  This week we will be working on Letter Ll, Snowy Weather, Winter, Ground Hog's Day, Number 5, Scissor Skills and Diamonds!  It will be a very busy, very messy and very fun week!

Please refer to my email regarding what supplies and materials should be returned to school on Monday and for a note about materials for future remote days should the need arise.

Valentine's Day: We will be celebrating Valentine's Day in PreK-3 on Friday, February 12th since the holiday falls on a Sunday this year.  We will be exchanging Valentine's Day Cards in school.  Please send in one card per child with only your own child's name on each as the from whom the card is and not the name for whom it is intended.  This will make distribution much easier as the children are only just beginning to recognize each other's names.  We have 7 children in our class.  The children can either make their own little cards or they may be purchased.  That is entirely up to you.  Please do not send in Valentines with food or candy as we have children with allergies in our school.  Your children may begin to bring in their cards whenever they are ready through our celebration day on the 12th.  This little homework idea is completely optional: you may want to take this opportunity to have your child write their first initial (or full name if they are able to) on each of their cards and then finish the rest of their name for him/her.

This Week's Focus will be on:
Letter of the Week: Kk
Number of the Month: 5
Colors of the Month:  Black and White
Shape of the Month:  Diamond (rhombus)
January Themes:  Counting 0-5, Sorting, AB Patterns, Feelings, Winter, Weather, Hibernation,                                          Name Recognition, Name Writing, Scissor Skills
Religion:  Sign of the Cross, Simple Prayers, Grace before meals,  Praying for someone other than ourselves

Show & Tell:  Friday, Jan 29th -  Please bring in one thing that either starts with the Ll sound, is white, black, diamond shaped or weather related to show and tell our friends about.

Dates to Remember:

January 31st through February 5th:  Catholic Schools Week
January 29th:  Tag Day- Rainbows

February 12th: Tag Day - Valentine's Day Colors
February 15th:  NO SCHOOL: Presidents' Day

Have a Lovely week,
Paula Dobres

Week of January 18, 2021 Remote Learning

OUR FRIENDS LEARNING FROM HOME!

Great job everyone!

I hope everyone had fun learning remotely this past week.  Thank you so much for helping your little one keep up with PreK-3.  If you do not have the time, which is completely understandable, just send everything back with your child and we will be sure to catch them up.  I know this sudden switch to remote learning is difficult for everyone so no worries whatsoever.

Week of January 11, 2021

We LOVED celebrating Mrs. McDonald's Birthday with her!!!

Our trip to the Church to see the Manger display was so much fun!

We LOVED our milk and cookies treat from the HSA!

Pretending to be HIBERNATING HEDGEHOGS was so COOL!

Night, night little hedgehogs... see you in the Spring!

We had so much fun PAINTING this week!

We hit the ground running this week with a fun kick off to our new STEAM Unit on Weather.  Our little meteorologists were so excited to dress our Weather Bear for the weather and to learn our new Weather Song.  (Expect to hear some new tunes this month!)

We are also learning to recite The Pledge of Allegiance.  Don't be surprised to be expected to say it along with your little Patriot any time they see the Flag!

We pretended to be hedgehogs and had so much fun hibernating for the Winter before completing an adorable hedgehog craft.  Be sure to ask your little hibernator all about it!  The photos above should spark some fun memories for them!!

We also worked on our first author study this year - Jan Brett!  The children absolutely LOVED her stories.  Be sure to ask them all about our favorite character of hers- Hedgie the Hedgehog!

A great BIG THANK YOU to our amazing HSA for providing us a fun cookies and milk snack and cool craft to celebrate Three Kings Day!
