Week of January 12, 2025

Let the New Year FUN BEGIN!

A Sneak Peek at Our Upcoming Week:  We will be laughing while learning Letter Ll, working on Number 5, continuing to learn more about Winter and focusing on Sunny Weather!

Parent/Teacher Conferences will be from Tuesday, January 20th through Friday, January 23rd.  Please check your email for more information and the Sign Up Genius link to choose your time slot.  If you did not receive the link via email, please reach out to me asap so I can resend it.  Please note that some conferences will take place in our classroom and others will be in the St Therese Church Office which is right down the hall from the Church entrance, just past the restrooms.

Donation Request:
We are asking for donations of baby wipes as we are starting to run low.  We would appreciate any you would be willing to donate.  The children use them throughout the day to clean their hands so we go through lots of them on a daily basis.   We are still well stocked on tissues and disinfecting wipes thanks to everyone's generosity at the start of the school year.  A GREAT BIG thank you to the families who have already donated!!

Disclaimer:   You may soon notice that less schoolwork is coming home in your child's folder...  The reason being that we are playing more learning games, we are busy decorating our classroom and hallway, we will soon be working on several in class science experiments as well as the the fact that we are holding onto our little scientists' projects and writing samples for a BIG SURPRISE that we are secretly putting together!!! No questions regarding that please!!!

πŸ’—Valentine's DayπŸ’—: We will be celebrating Valentine's Day in PreK-3 on Friday, February 13th. (Valentine's Day falls on a Saturday this year, 2/14.)  We will be exchanging Valentine's Day Cards in school.  Please send in one card per child with only your own child's name on each as from whom the card is and not the name for whom it is intended.  This will make distribution much easier as the children are only just beginning to recognize each other's names.  We have 13 children in our class.  The children can either make their own little cards or they may be purchased.  Please don't spend a lot on them, the dollar stores usually carry class sets.  Please do not send in Valentines with food or candy as we have children with allergies in our class.  Your children may begin to bring in their cards whenever they are ready up through our celebration day on the 13th.  This little homework idea is completely optional: you may want to take this opportunity to have your child write their first initial (or full name if they are able to) on each of their cards and then finish the rest of their name for him/her.

❄❅❆⛄πŸ₯ΆDress for the Weather: πŸ₯Ά⛄❆❅❄ Please pack your child with a warm hat and mittens (or gloves if they can manage them independently) as we will play outdoors if weather permits and we sometimes take Nature Walks outside to learn about trees, weather, seasons, etc.. I'm hoping to head outdoors this week  to take Winter Photos of our little munchkins so PLEASE dress them appropriately!!

Our Week in Photos:

πŸ“Έ Here's A Little Snap Shot of Our WeekπŸ“Έ

We started the New Year off praying for our loved ones using our very special Prayer Flower.

We are learning about Dressing for the Weather and are taking turns getting our Weather Bear ready for his school day weather!

Hopping like Kangaroos was so fun!!

And so was making our own K Kangaroos!

They came out so good!

Be sure to ask your little biologist to tell you some cool kooky kangaroo facts!

⛄❆We have been having so much fun transforming our
Learning Center into a Winter Wonderland!

We loved learning about SNOW this week!

We also learned about HIBERNATION this week!!
This is the first step in a sweet little hibernator craft...

We did so well making our sweet snowmen snow globes!
They are now on display in our classroom.

Our Five Day Friends were B-U-S-Y this week!!

They worked hard on their Letter Kk Books!

They learned about The Epiphany and the Three Kings.

They did so well on their Epiphany activity!

Winter Bingo was so cool too!

We learned that K is for Kaleidoscope too!

Winter Wonderland Painting was so much fun too!

Did you know that we have some MASTER BUILDERS in our class???

Our Snowman is ready for the Great Outdoors!
It arrived just in time for the mild weather this week! lol

We loved pretending to be HEDGEHOGS this week and had so much fun crawling our way into our burrow and rolling ourselves up into little hedgehog balls!!

Nighty Night sweet hedgehogs!  See you in the Spring!!

We did so well putting the finishing touches on our sweet little hedgehogs!

They came out so well and are now Hibernating in our Classroom Burrow!

We worked on diamond shapes by making these amazing snowflakes!

And then we made them SPARKLE of course!!

We started off with a blank slate...

Then we had a BLUE Sponge Paint FEST!

Once our masterpieces dried, we turned them into beautiful snowflakes!

Ask your little meteorologist to tell you how many points every snowflake has!

And whether or not any two snowflakes are the same!!

Our masterpieces will soon be decorating our classroom sky!

We also made our own snow globes that will soon be on display in our Learning Center Hallway!

k is for  a not so kind king that we read about!
(He was the first in a series of "naughty" characters we will be reading about in the upcoming weeks as we focus on character analysis in our in our Language Arts curriculum!)

We did so well on a very difficult Hibernation Bear Berry Counting Activity!!

I am so impressed and proud of our little MATHEMATICIANS!!

Our Winter Scholars continued to flex their mental bandwidths with some very difficult Hibernation Concentration Learning Board Games!!  WOW was I impressed!!!!

What better way to take a study break than to have a Winter Wonderland DANCE PARTY?!?!?!

Do you want to build a snowman???

Or DANCE like one?!?!

Show and Tell continues to be a class favorite into the New Year!!

🀣Hope you have a week full of laughter and fun!🀣
