Week of September 30, 2019

Wow!  Pete the Cat was such a HIT with our preschoolers this week!!!  It was so much fun to read the story and to then sing and dramatize it together using our Smart Board!  It was the first thing they asked to do all week long... SO FUNNY!!

We also had a blast exploring our sense of hearing and making and using our very special rain sticks.  We used our school instruments as well as our rain sticks to make music all day long... We also had a very special classroom parade.  Be sure to ask your preschool musician all about it!

We are also enjoying observing signs of Fall and even made our own Fall Trees!  Be sure to check them out on display in our PreK-3 Art Gallery next time you are in our Learning Center!

On October 7th we will have a visit from the Roxbury Fire Department and we will be spending some time learning about fire safety all week in preparation for their visit.  All morning children are invited to stay.  If you have not let me know of your intention to have your child stay, please do so as soon as possible.  Please see the notice that went home through your child's backpack earlier this week regarding lunch and pick-up procedures for morning children on that day.

Fall Fun Day is right around the corner!  It is scheduled for Wednesday, October 16th. We are collecting $7 per student to help cover the expenses for that fun filled day.  Please return your payment with your child's name by October 9th.  We are also looking for parent volunteers to help us run the stations that morning.  Please let me know in you would be interested in helping out.

Our Mums for Mulch fundraiser is underway with all orders due by Tuesday, October 1st.  The mums will be delivered right to St. Therese School for your convenience.  Pick up date and procedure information will be available shortly.

If you did not receive my email last weekend regarding Emergency Alerts, please notify me and the main office as soon as possible so that we can update the system with all your correct contact information.

Week of September 23, 2019

We had another fun filled week of learning this week.  The children loved spending the day with their teddy bears on Show and Tell Friday.  "Blue Bird, Blue Bird" was so much fun to make, play and sing too!  We had fun going on our "bear hunt" and using our binoculars to explore our sense of sight.  The children adored being adventurers and exploring our school grounds using our binoculars!  They made so many wonderful discoveries!  Be sure to ask them all about it.

We also practiced our fine motor skills by making adorable acorns that are now on display in our classroom.  Be sure to take a peek at them next time you are in the Learning Center.

This week we will be learning the letter Cc, focusing on our sense of hearing, and learning about and observing signs of Fall.

We had a fabulous first full week of school learning all about our new PreK-3 friends!  The children LOVED sharing their amazing Stars!  What an incredible job everyone did creating their masterpieces!  Mrs Matthews and I were blown away by your creativity!!  All the children are such natural public speakers. It was truly remarkable to watch them share their posters!!

A great big thank you to our two Room Parent volunteers, Mrs. Selser and Mrs. Rozanski!!  We all appreciate your help!

The children are such natural students picking up on our classroom routines and expectations with such great ease.  We had to continuously remind ourselves that they have only been with us for a little over a week!

We had so much fun learning about apples and with our Apple Taste Test as well as learning to distinguish attributes in objects which are the same and different.

Week of September 9, 2019

We had a wonderful first day of school getting to know our new PreK-3 friends!  We worked on learning classroom routines, played some fun games and enjoyed a Silly Dance Contest.  We are in store for a wonderful school year with this adorable group of children!!

We will be kicking off our All About Me unit this week!  We can't wait to find things that make us special and learn all about each other.  We will also start learning our first letter of the week, Letter Aa, while having some Aa is for Apples fun while exploring our sense of taste!!

Thank you for filling out  the welcome packet forms that went home on our Orientation Day and for all of your generous donations of tissues and wipes.

We are still looking for two Room Parents.  If you are interested in volunteering your time with our fabulous three year olds and their families, please reach out to me as soon as possible.  If you would like to learn more about the responsibilities involved, I would be happy to discuss them with you.

As the weather has been taking a turn for the cooler side lately, please be mindful of packing your child with an extra layer, sweatshirt/sweater/jacket, as we will play outside on the playground while the weather still permits.

Please remember to label all of your child's belongings with his/her name.

Most of all, thank you for sharing your sweet angels with us.  We are really enjoying getting to know each and every one of them and are looking forward to an amazing school year with them!!!

Please be reminded that our first day of school, Friday, September 6th will be a noon dismissal for the entire student body.

Please remember to pack your preschooler a healthy snack every day and be sure to check your child's folder daily.  Also, please make a habit of checking this blog on a weekly basis.  I will update the entries over the weekend for the following school week.  This will be where I post our show and tell theme for the week as well.

St. Therese School welcomes you to our amazing HSA and to our Back to School Night on September 12th in the Main Building.
