Week of September 12, 2022

 

We've been busy making FRIENDS in PreK!!

We are learning to use our glue sticks too!!

Looking at story books is pretty cool!

And we have so many fun toys to play with in school!!

Play dough and "Chicka Chicka Boom Boom" were both a BIG HIT!!

We did so well working with our initial letters!!

We loved looking in the mirror to see what color our eyes and hair are!

Playing on our playground is soooo much fun!!

We did so well pointing out our letters on our Chicka Chicka Boom Boom tree!!

We loved learning about BIRTHDAYS!!!  Ask your little one to sing you "Happy Birthday to ME!!"

WOW!!!  We were so impressed with our Super Star's Posters and their public speaking skills as well!!

Playing outside really is the BEST!!

Weekly Recap:

We had such a fun week learning all about ourselves as well as one another!  We have been working hard on a special surprise that the children will be bringing home soon. Be sure to have your little author and illustrator share it with you (HINT, HINT!)!

The children all did such a wonderful job sharing their amazing Super Star Posters with one another!  I can't wait to see their reactions when they see their posters on display in our classroom on Monday!  Everyone did such a great job coming up with a poster as unique as the child!

We also had a blast reading and acting out one of our favorite books, Chicka Chicka Boom Boom and learning about our names and initial letters!  

A Peek at our Week Ahead:

This week we will begin our Letter of the Week curriculum with letter Aa.  We will also be starting our STEAM Unit on The Five Senses and learning about number 0!  Be sure to ask your preschooler all about it!

IMPORTANT  Message From Our Nurse:

"As per NJDOH all children under the age of 59 months MUST have a flu vaccine by 12/31/2022. If the child turns 5 before that date then they actually do not have to comply. Also, if the parent does have a medical/religious exemption letter that they do not receive vaccines- that will count too." 

IMPORTANT - FORMS ARE DUE:

Please, please, please submit all your forms as soon as possible.  If you've already submitted the photo release to the main office, please also send the paper copy you received through your child's folder to me so I know whether or not to include your child's photos on this blog.  Also, we are planning on having our Apple Taste Test this week.  I will need your permission slip back asap for your child to participate.  

Class Directory:

I am in the process of compiling a class directory for our PreK-3 families to facilitate in communications between you (birthday invites, play dates, etc.).  I will need you to either opt in or opt out of the directory and will also need to know what information you would like to be included.  Please respond to the survey I will be sending home as soon as possible so I can get the directory out to our families.

Letter of the Week: Letter Aa

Numbers of the Month:  0 and 1

Color of the month: yellow

Shape of the month: circle

Themes: All About Me, Making Friends, Apples, The Five Senses

Religion: Sign of the Cross, Simple Prayers, Grace before meals

Show and Tell:  Friday, September 17th-  Please bring in something that has a letter Aa on it or something that starts with the letter Aa sound.  (examples: airplane, angel, photo of someone whose name starts with letter A, apple, astronaut, ape, alligator, ant, Auntie, arm, artist, avocado, alphabet, etc.  If you cannot find something at home, you can always print a picture of something to send in.)***PLEASE LABEL WITH YOUR CHILD's NAME***

Dates to Remember:

September 15th- Back to School Night for the Big School (We had our Orientation in lieu of this night)

September 16th- 📷School Pictures📷 (Be sure to wear your best SMILE!!)

September 30th- Go Gold Tag Day to support the fight against childhood cancer ($1 donations or any amount you'd like will be collected for St Jude's Research Hospital)

October 7th and 10th- NO SCHOOL - Teacher Professional Day & Columbus Day

October 12th- Tentative Date- 🍂🍁Fall Fun Day🍂🍁:  Details coming home soon - (Volunteers Needed)

October 28th- Halloween Tag Day:  Information coming soon

October 31st- 🎃PreK MORNING Halloween Parade🎃:  Details coming home soon... Our Parade is separate from the Big School AFTERNOON Parade. 

December 9th:  Save the Date- 🎄Tentative PreK Christmas Show🎄
