Week of February 7, 2022

Our scientists were back at it this week - this time experimenting with SHADOWS!!!

Learning about Groundhogs and Shadows was SO MUCH FUN!!

We did such a great job on our craft!  It had so many tiny pieces!!

WOW!!  Those tiny pieces created HUGE SHADOWS!!!

Our Winter Writing was so creative!
(Don't ask too many questions YET... we are working on a BIG WEATHER SURPRISE!!!)

Saying Goodbye to our Blue Playdough.... We're getting a NEW COLOR this week!!!

We helped the groundhog by cutting a path to him and and his shadow!

I am so impressed with our scissor skills!

We loved our Groundhog Shadow craft!  Ask your little weather reporter if they remember our Groundhog Song!

Getting ready for SUNNY DAYS AHEAD... hopefully!!

Indoor playtime is fun but we CAN'T WAIT TO GET OUTSIDE AGAIN!!!

Weekly Recap:  We loved learning all about groundhogs and Groundhog's Day!  Our warm weather lovers were so disappointed that he saw his shadow but our cold weather friends were so excited over the news!  Learning about shadows was a blast!  Ask your little weather reporter to demonstrate on their groundhog craft... all you need to supply is a flashlight!  We were so impressed with our little artists' scissor skills!  They loved showing off their abilities!  Keep up with all the practicing at home.  Great job!

A Sneak Peek at Our Upcoming Week: We will be continuing to work on our Weather STEAM Unit with a focus on rainy and sunny weather.  We will be working on Letter Nn and will be participating in a Scissor Challenge as well as getting ready for Valentine's Day.  (Please remember to send in your child's Valentine's on or before 2/14 as well as to dress your little lovey in Valentine's colors on Valentine's Day.)

Valentine's Day: We will be celebrating Valentine's Day in PreK-3 on Monday, February 14th. We will be exchanging Valentine's Day Cards in school.  Please send in one card per child with only your own child's name on each as the from whom the card is and not the name for whom it is intended.  This will make distribution much easier as the children are only just beginning to recognize each other's names.  We have 12 children in our class.  The children can either make their own little cards or they may be purchased.  That is entirely up to you.  Please do not send in Valentines with food or candy as we have children with allergies in our school.  Your children may begin to bring in their cards whenever they are ready up through our celebration day on the 14th.  This little homework idea is completely optional: you may want to take this opportunity to have your child write their first initial (or full name if they are able to) on each of their cards and then finish the rest of their name for him/her.
