Week of February 2, 2026

Shadows were all the rage in PreK-3 this week!!

A Sneak Peek at Our Upcoming Week:  We will be discussing the Groundhogs' predictions and comparing them to our own predictions.  We will be pretending to wake up from our Snowy Naps just as the Groundhog will be as we have our much anticipated PreK PAJAMA DAY on Monday!!!!!  We will also be learning Letter Nn and kicking off our February Themes!  We will be focusing on "God is Love," as we focus on the power of love and kindness.  We will also be kicking off our months long Language Arts Unit on Fairy Tales and Nursery Rhymes as well as working on our Weather Unit with RAINY WEATHER in our classroom forecast this week!

πŸ’—Valentine's DayπŸ’—: We will be celebrating Valentine's Day in PreK-3 on Friday, February 13th. We will be exchanging Valentine's Day Cards in school.  Please send in one card per child with only your own child's name on each as the from whom the card is and not the name for whom it is intended.  This will make distribution much easier as the children are only just beginning to recognize each other's names.  We have 13 children in our class.  The children can either make their own little cards or they may be purchased.  Please don't spend a lot on them, the dollar stores usually carry class sets.  Please do not send in Valentines with food or candy as we have children with allergies in our preschool.  Your children may begin to bring in their cards whenever they are ready up through our celebration day on the 13th.  This little homework idea is completely optional: you may want to take this opportunity to have your child write their first initial (or full name if they are able to) on each of their cards and then finish the rest of their name for him/her.

Our Week in Photos:

πŸ“Έ Here's A Little Snap Shot of Our WeekπŸ“Έ

Our Five Day Friends did so well on their Letter Mm Books!

We loved participating in our Schoolwide Breakfast!
(A great big THANK YOU to our HSA for sponsoring it and to Mrs. Farina for coming in to help us!)

Every now and then (especially in the cold Winter months, a new toy or two will surface!
Sooooo Fun!!!

Did you hear all about our Scientific Discoveries this week?!?!

We compared what happened to snow and ice outside our classroom to what happened to snow and ice  inside our classroom!!

We even left our experiment "running" all night and into the next couple of days!!

🧊❆❄Be sure to ask your little scientist all about it!!!❆❄🧊

We read a really funny storybook about a melted snowman and then melted our own and "wrote" a story to go with it!!

It was so fun!

We did so well painting a "scientific" craft with two different colors!!

GREEN for the ground...

And BROWN for the GROUNDHOG!!!!

After all that work it was time for a serious DANCE BREAK!!!

(While continuing to make our scientific observations of course!!)

Mm isn't just for Melting ice and snow its also for MITTEN MATCHING!!!

Sssshhhh!! Keep your mitten color a mystery (for a few moments at least!!)

Now lets Make some Matches!!!

Mrs. Dobres was someone's match too!!!

Then it was onto matching mitten letters on our magnet board!

(Ssshhh!!  Don't tell your little match maker that they were reviewing their letters!!)

We did marvelously!

Then we continued making our matches on our worksheet!

Our Afternoon Friends continued the fun by taking a tour of our Middle School Wax Museum!!
Our friend's brother was one of the presenters!!!!
All of our Middle School Students did so well!!  We were so impressed and learned so much!!

Our Five Day Friends love mastering our Learning Centers!!

And they have so much fun playing with our learning manipulatives too!

We loved learning about SHADOWS this week!!
And we made PREDICTIONS as to whether or not the GROUNDHOG will see his shadow on Monday!
Please check your scientist's folder to see our class prediction graph!

We loved putting the finishing touches on our Groundhog craft!

Then our SCIENTISTS experimented with making SHADOWS using their GROUNDHOG masterpieces and special "sun-like" light sources!!
Please DO TRY THIS AT HOME!!!!!

It was so cool!

We discovered that our own bodies make good shadows too!!

Our Groundhog Shadow Puppet came out great too!!!

The teachers continue to marvel at our magnificent public speaking skills!

Great job sweet little munchkins!!

We are trying to solve the case of the mystery mittens in PreK-3!
Please let me know if they belong to your little munchkin.

🌞⛅Happy Groundhog Day everyone!!🌞
Hope you are all wishing for an early SPRING like I am!!!
